Resources for Artists with Disabilities

More than 325,000 visitors to this site since 2002 and starting March 9,2006 new visitors to this page begin atHit Counter

Following is a list of various resources for Artists with Disability's.  If you know of some great resources I can add to this list please email me DisabledArtists@cs.com

First I would like to share a wonderful comment made by Artist Laurie Homan of New Jersey...

"For what seems like a very long time to me, I didn't want

to use any resources available to me because of my disability.  Actually seeing the works of others with disabilities has completely changed my inner-dialog and I now realize what a special group that I'm part of.  Thank you for being a catalyst, (along with VSA of NJ) as I enter a new, more self-aware and self-confident state of life".

One of the most important things you can do as an Artist is to protect your work.  Never never give or sell your copyright away when you sell your art because if you do you will never be able to sell prints or reproductions of your work. What you can do if you want is to License your work but you should be very very cautious about this.  I found a very a really great reference on everything you should know about Licensing your artwork and protecting yourself.  Just go to

http://www.porterfieldsfineart.com/howtolicenseyourart.htm

And read everything.  Be sure to bookmark the page because you might want to go back if you forget any of the sound advice.

Before you consider Licensing your artwork one of the first things your going to want to do is to make sure every single image you have posted online has the following:  A copyright symbol. Your Signature. The year or date  you created the piece. This is very important. If you paint you can do it yourself. If you are posting Digital Art or Photography you can paste or edit a stamp on by using editing software.  If your keyboard won't make a copyright symbol  by pressing ctrl alt and C then you can copy free symbols from this website.

Okay. So now you know all the pros and cons about protecting your copyright and your work. There's something else you need to know. If you have your own website and web host be very very aware that unscrupulous, hostile  or mismanaged  web host company's and Registrars can gain control of your domain and lock you out or hijack your website.  Who to trust?  www.Icann.org   approved Registrars and Web Hosts but never sign up with a Resgistrar or Web Host that does not allow you to control your domain management. You never know when your going to have to change web hosts so be sure you really have the choice and have total control.  www.GoDaddy.com is a good place to register because it's one of the few places where you get to have complete control over your domain and choose where your DNS Servers are pointed (That's your web host). I personally recommend www.opriver.com for web hosting because you will have great service, top of line protection from hackers and lots of options like having a site built for you if you need one and more.

Free or Cheap Energy is suppressed by the Government.  While you can not currently "BUY" these Inventions you can at least  buy the Patented plans to cheaply make them yourself or ask a friend to make them for you.  Energy costs have doubled in some areas and those who are Disabled can ill afford those increased costs.  After all their checks did not double to meet those increased utility costs.  Not only can you heat your house for Free, you can also quit paying around $2.00 a gallon for Gasoline by learning how convert Water to Fuel.  or run your car on Air.  How about 124 miles to a tank of air?  I'm not kidding!  Click here for  Creative Science and Research:
