Sahar Husseini started beading as a hobby seven years ago when a friend suggested the craft. Blind since birth, she identifies beads by touch, by texture and temperature, by shape and weight.

Biography

My name is Sahar Husseini. I was born totally blind, but I was always extremely fascinated with color. I always loved jewelry, but I didn't know I could make it until I was almost 29 years old. On Easter Sunday, April 9, 1999, the beader in me was born and I began to create jewelry. When I am not beading, I am thinking about beads, buying beads, or working as an Orientation Counselor at the Nebraska Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired. 

I enjoy using different textures and types of beads. Each item is one of a kind. I am what you call a bead addict, and I am always looking for new shapes and different looks. I mainly specialize in semi-precious beaded gemstone jewelry. The gemstones are usually mixed with pewter or sterling silver. I also use other materials to make my jewelry such as glass, bone, brass, copper, Gold-plated, and silver-plated metal. On this site, I indicated the material of which each piece was made. I hope you enjoy my art work, and know that I put a piece of me in everything I create.

I collected information about the gemstones I use. Click or enter on the specific gemstone to find further information under properties. Even though I am listing some metaphysical and healing properties of the various gemstones, they are meant for entertainment purposes only. I claim no medical knowledge of any kind. I personally believe that gemstones and colors do have some energy, and I know that I like working with specific gemstones more than others. I also have gemstones that I work with for a period of time only to leave them for months on end.
