Artist Colleen Lambert Colleen Lambert strives for classical realism in her paintings, creating original masterpieces for residential & commercial clients. She is an accomplished oil as well as watercolor artist from the Pacific Northwest and offers attainable, affordable art. She brings more than 20 years of painting experience to her clients. Colleen, diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1991 has decided that against all odds, she will continue to paint because it brings her such great pleasure and allows her to forget for a while about her illness. She wants to share that with the world as long as she is able. Colleen was born and reared in Utah and comes by her talent naturally, coming from a very artistic family. Colleen was educated in Utah and WA state where she now resides and specializes in seascape portraits of the beautiful Northwest. She is the recipient of several awards and has twice been featured as a cover artist on Signature magazine for the Arts. Colleen Lambert gets nominated for an award! Read below the nomination written on her behalf by her employer. It gives me great pleasure to recommend Colleen Lambert for the Seattle Mayor's Art & Cultural Award for 2006. Colleen has been invaluable to me in my adult family homes for senior citizens with dementia. Her knowledge of the arts and her ability to teach them is outweighed only by her immense generosity of time, spirit and genuine love for my residents. They dearly adore her, look forward to their weekly time with her and are able to tackle more creative and complicated projects than we ever expected. She is very dear to both residents and staff. This is extremely important to these folks as it helps to stimulate their minds and keep them feeling 'alive' and valued. She teaches them that there is no 'wrong way' to paint, but more importantly - the 'right way' to just be creative by trying. Some of the arts & crafts that she provides instruction for are target specific, in that they are designed to help with their physical ailments such as arthritis or ones to help with cognitive issues too, by learning to recognize shape, line and color. Colleen is extraordinarily supportive of them and works so well with each of the residents.
It's clear to me that Colleen is deserving of this award as her love and respect for each one of them is something that I, as owner of the homes - really value. Please consider giving her this tribute, as I can think of no one who is more deserving of being honored in such a way.
