Dear Ms. Nicholas, I have sent you the following information: Infrared Sight for the Blind. ( Development Stage: Concept) New electronics device increases an ability of blind people to perceive the world by its sounds. The ability “to see” the objects in the environments is attained by reproducing their spatial sound images. The device radiate the infrared IR beams into the space and the received signals are converted into sound signals with their strength, frequency and spatial composition characteristics depending on the size, surface topography of objects, range and the objects position relative to the direction of light radiation. The perception of the sounds is binaural. The natural sounds of the environments are not blocked. Unlike the ultrasound glasses, which cannot “see” many objects with smooth surfaces located no perpendicularly to the transmitter acoustic axis, the IR glasses can easily detect them.
