The Mountains in the background are beautiful yet a lonely spare
bush grows on the hillside. I asked Rafael one time if he was the
bush in the painting and if it was how he felt sometimes when you
soul is bare as the branches on this shrub were. He said "I kind of
do", later told me that if I saw any painting of a Tree he created
that it was a self portrait.

"Return to Purple Mountains"
I always loved the Magnificent Purple and Richness of this
particular Mountain Scene.

"Trans Mountains"
When Rafael emailed this image I asked him what "Trans Mountains"
means? He laughed and replied, "Well it can mean what ever the
person wants it to mean but it means "Transparent Mountains".

"Amazon Mountain near Sea"
Mountains were Rafael's favorite subject and what he most liked to
paint.

"Grasslands to the Rockies"
("9x15") Mountains inspired Rafael to seek out special frames and
matting for his favorite subjects. He would tell me of his trips out
to find frames for his "Children". Never marrying or having children
himself he exclaimed that his paintings were his family and he
wanted to dress them up for visits to Art Galleries and showings.

"Rockies"
A cooler winter pristine mountain scene.
