What would you like
to do with your Inventions?
I would like to realize them myself or to see them realized.
What is your opinion of
the Solar Chimneys used in Spain?
It was the first working model of the Solar Chimney.
During its operation and optimization
data was collected. This data has been licensed to EnviroMission and
SolarMission Technologies Inc. (USA based license holder), who plan to
develop the concept under the brand name Solar Tower. This idea and a
positive final result attracted many experts’ attention. There are a
number of similar projects now.
Solar chimneys are an excellent idea; they combine the best parts of
solar and wind power to create reliable, environmentally friendly, cheap
electrical power 24 hours a day.
I understand that you gifted to the State of Florida your Idea on how to
destroy Tornadoes and it was forwarded to the Hurricane Center. Did you
ever hear back from them?
No, I didn’t.
What is your theory on how to destroy Tornadoes?
A Tornado’s vortex/column is a ‘chimney’. The outward wall of this
‘chimney’ consists of a cold, humid, heavy air whirling around at furious
speeds. There is a low air pressure inside the vortex and a warm air near
the ground rushes inside and up to fill. Such an intricate system with
downward current and updraft is unstable and should fall apart itself if
we would cut of or destroy this chimney for example in its slim place.
I
t can be done using pinpoint blasting for
example. It is clear pin-point blasting must be a high powered AIR BLAST
with no debris, just powerful air wave and nothing more.
Frankly speaking it is not a better idea. It is necessary to have ideal
conditions to do this. Tornados are very active, mobile and changeable
objects.
Why do you think it would work?
The observations show a strong gust some times does this job and and
the Tornado
dies.
Would it work on Hurricanes?
Hurricanes are huge vortexes (hundreds km in diameter). It would not
work.
Hurricane
In your opinion, how
would you weaken the effects of a Hurricane?
We can say a Hurricane is a giant
vertical heat engine. The temperature difference in low and high layers of
the atmosphere is a real fuel for this engine.
"To prevent a Hurricane
origin or weaken an acting Hurricane we must decrease the temperature
difference."
I see one way - using tall chimneys. They cool off the air near the
ground and heat it up in high layers. They work 24 hours a day the
whole year round. It means warm air from the chimneys will come in
high atmosphere layers all the time and global prevailing winds in the
tropical zone will spread this warm air west. As a result a temperature
difference in high and low atmosphere layers will slow down. A large
quantity of chimneys will be able to control atmospheric conditions.
Hurricane Structure
Can you prove this scientifically?
It is well known the water on the sea and ocean surface becomes cooler
and air in high layers becomes warmer behind the hurricane’s way. When the
energy is exhausted the Hurricane dies of hunger.
Chimneys work the same way.
Solar Chimney Prototype at Manzanares, Spain
Would there be any negative consequences?
Nothing would change in Mother Nature. Isn’t it bad without Hurricanes
and Tornados?
What would it cost to
do?
The 1000m Solar Chimney in Mildura, Australia, will be the highest
man-made structure on Earth, and can produce 200MW of electricity,
providing power to 200,000 homes. The cost to build the tower is estimated
at US$395 million, about 14 percent more than an equivalent coal-fired
power station, and about 70 percent more per installed megawatt than a
comparable wind farm. However, the investment will pay off in long term
because it is more reliable than wind farm in sun-rich Australia and
requires no fuel.
The Chimney itself without a solar air collector and electric power
station will cost 10 times less.
The chimney doesn't need to be vertical: all that matters is the
pressure difference, which only depends on the difference in altitude
between top and bottom, not the verticality itself. It means we can lie
our chimney chute down on the ground at the base of a mountain, and have
it run up the side of the mountain to the top. This kind of chimneys will
be very cheap.
What benefits would it have?
Fortunately we can install an
electric power station in the chimney. It would have electricity as a
benefit.
The main benefit is Hurricanes
will not kill thousands of people
and cause billions of dollars of property damage.
Are you the
first person to come up with this Invention?
I am not sure. I think this idea is not an invention. This idea
must serve all people. Chimneys in Africa will weaken Hurricanes going to
USA, American Chimneys will weaken Typhoons going to Japan and so on.
How would you be involved in the creation of a test model prototype?
As an adviser.
If someone were to
pay for the test model prototype or take this Invention to Market would it
create jobs? Would you prefer to sell the Invention or License it
for royalties?
"t would create a lot of jobs. This idea is free for everybody".

Vladimir Zenin, November 6, 2005
or a start…
Do you believe a human will control the weather in the near future?
‘It is impossible’- I can hear indisputable answer.
It was impossible to have visited the Moon but people did it. It is
impossible to have visited Mars today but people will do it in the near
future.
Every year between June 1 and November 30 (commonly called hurricane
season), hurricanes threaten the eastern and gulf coasts of the United
States, Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean. They wreak havoc when
they make landfall, and they can kill thousands of people and cause
billions of dollars of property damage when they hit heavily populated
areas.
Structurally, a hurricane is a large, rotating area of clouds, wind and
thunderstorm activity. Because of this, it can be thought of as a giant
vertical heat engine. We can say the same about tornado but its engine is
smaller.
In this article, we'll not discuss how hurricanes/tornados form and
move, and look at the destruction and damage they can cause. We’ll examine
what is a fuel and driving forces of these engines. We'll also examine how
we can use this fuel and weaken hurricanes and tornados.
There is no doubt their primary energy source is the Sun’s radiation.
The Earth’s atmosphere accumulates this energy in the form of a
temperature difference in low and high layers. It is known temperatures
fall at a fairly constant rate up to about 10 kilometers of about 1°
C for every 150 m increase in height. The temperature difference is a real
fuel of hurricane and tornado’s engines.
The second driving force of these engines is gravity. You can see they
float in the Earth’s atmosphere in spite of their huge mass. The Moon and
Sun’s gravitational force and the rotation of the Moon-Earth system as a
whole pull not just a water in the ocean resulting the regular rise and
fall of the water level in the oceans (tides) but it easily pulls these
floating engines too, always in one direction from the east to the west.
Without this force hurricane and tornado’s engines would stand still and
could not develop and wreak havoc.
The only permanent motion allows them to gather energy from the huge
air space and turn to a Bloody Monster.
This phenomenon was before and will be in the future. We can’t change
this situation. But what is a tornado or a hurricane?
It is a big or a huge hole in the atmosphere between layers with a
large temperature difference. Stored energy runs down and up through this
hole like atmospheric electricity discharges through the lightning. It is
well known the water on the sea and ocean surface becomes cooler and air
in high layers becomes warmer on the hurricane’s way. When the energy is
exhausted the Monster dies of hunger.
Why not create such holes artificially and use the energy running
through? You can see a Tornado vortex sometimes looks like a huge factory
chimney.
It is really a natural chimney. Outward walls of this ‘chimney’ consist
of a cold, humid, heavy air whirling around at furious speeds. There is a
low air pressure (emptiness) inside the vortex and a warm air near the
ground rushes inside and up to fill.
Such an intricate system with two counter-current flows has a huge
power. You see that Mother Nature itself gives us an idea how to do this.
We must build chimneys, tall chimneys, a lot of them.
People invented chimneys and used them for ages. Today this invention
sends Hurricanes a challenge.
Not long ago a human lived in a fear of the unknown natural phenomenon
called thunderstorms. People just could see that lightning killed living
creatures and made fire and destruction and could do nothing to avoid this
danger because they knew nothing about electricity. Then they invented a
lightning rod and other things. Electricity today is the most used kind of
effective and creative energy.
Hurricanes and Tornados today are still unknown natural phenomenans as
thunderstorms were before. It is time to disclose their secrets and use
their huge energy.
People do their first steps in this direction being unaware of this
problem. They have already built first tall chimney in Spain and put
inside the turbine to get electricity. They called this invention the
Solar chimney power station.
The solar flue in this case is an air stream driven by temperature
difference in a chimney power station. The solar chimney power stations
combine three things in one: the greenhouse, the chimney and the turbine.
Air underneath a low circular glass roof open at the circumference is
heated by radiation from the sun. The roof and the natural ground below it
form a hot air collector ("greenhouse"). A vertical chimney with large air
inlets at its base stands in the center of the glass roof. The joint
between the roof and the chimney base is airtight. As hot air is lighter
than cold air, it rises up the chimney. Suction from the chimney then
draws in more hot air from the collector, and cold air comes in from the
outer perimeter. The energy of the airflow is converted into mechanical
energy by pressure-staged wind turbines at the base of the chimney, and
into electrical energy by electric generators coupled to the turbines.
General concept of the solar chimney power station
One of the earliest descriptions of a solar chimney power station was
written in 1931 by a German author, Hanns Günther. Beginning in 1975,
Robert E. Lucier applied for patents on a solar chimney device; between
1978 and 1981 these patents, since expired, were granted in the USA[1],
Canada[2], Australia[3] and Israel[4].
More recently Schlaich, Bergerman and Partner, under the direction of
German engineer Prof. Dr. Ing. Jörg Schlaich, built a small scale working
model of a solar chimney in 1982 in Manzaranes, (Spain), 150 km south of
Madrid, which was funded by the German Government. This power plant
operated successfully for approximately 8 years and was decommissioned in
1989. The chimney had a diameter of 10 metres and a height of 195 metres,
with a collection area (greenhouse) of 46,000 m² (about 11 acres)
obtaining a maximum power output of about 50 kW.
Solar Chimney Prototype at Manzanares, Spain
During operation, optimization data was collected on a second-by-second
basis. This data has been licensed to EnviroMission and SolarMission
Technologies Inc. (USA based licence holder), who plan to develop the
concept under the brand name Solar Tower.
At the beginning of 2005 they started collecting meteorological data at
a proposed site in New South Wales, Australia, with the intent to have a
fully operation Solar Tower power station in 2008. The maximum power
output from the concept can be up to 200 MW. The proposed solar chimney
was originally to be 1 km high, and the base 3.5 km in diameter (for a
total of about 10 km²). This solar thermal power station is capable of
generating enough electricity to supply 200,000 typical Australian homes.
Solar chimney power stations are particularly suitable for generating
electricity in deserts and sun-rich wasteland. Their efficiency increases
with the height of the chimney, not linearly, but exponentially. For the
power stations to generate electricity economically, not only large glass
or plastic roof surfaces are necessary, but also a very high chimney. The
height is needed simply from the fact that the updraft is proportional to
the height, and also to make best use of the heat available. Unlike
traditional wind farms, the tower doesn't have to rely on the weather for
a good crop. It produces its own wind 24 hours a day the whole year round.
It means a warm air from the chimneys will come in high atmosphere layer
all the time and global prevailing winds will spread this warm air west.
As a result a temperature difference in high and low atmosphere layers
will slow down.

Tornado

Vladimir Zenin gifted his Idea of how to weaken or
destroy a Tornado which was forwarded to the Hurricane Center. No
response was ever heard back. Here is the theory behind controlling
Tornados by weakening them or disrupting their energy flow.
Vladimir Zenin former engineer geologist geophysicist
Letter to my dearest grandson George Vassilevski
Dear George,
One day I was lucky to see the origin and dying of a tornado
on the Black-Sea coast of Caucasus. (It was not powerful). I said I was
lucky because I could stare at the whole process from the beginning of a
cloud rotation, speeding-up of this rotation, formation of the column, its
growth in width and down, water splashes on the sea towards the column,
joining the column with water, water suction inside and spitting around
the column, swimming cruisers away from the column and slow dying of this
tornado.
After that case I had read some books about Tornado and
saw lots of tornado pictures, but I was very busy with my current
professional problems and never thought about it again up to now when I
became retired.
When I watched tornado I had understood this humid
column was a channel of energy circulation. It works as a pump inside
sucking up warm air lying above the ground. Its rotating periphery wall is
cold and spins down to the ground. This channel is a hole in a calm
atmosphere. Through this hole cold, humid and heavy air from above
stoops down making cylindrical wall and hot air from below rushes up.
A Column’s cylindrical wall has a complicated structure and configuration.
A Hurricane has the same hole (the eye) but this hole is too huge and energy
is immeasurable. This eye we can see clearly on photos from space
satellites.
I even thought out how to destroy a tornado. My suggestion is
simple: We must destroy the energy's path, we must cut off this column for
example with help of a pinpoint explosion. Of course this idea is not fit
for Hurricane.
This picture shows the scene of an explosion action.
After setting off the explosion the column structure will be destroyed and
the tornado
will lose energy entry and will fall apart. The column’s collapse will
upset the balance of a Tornado power and an action of the upper part of
the Tornado will get broken. It is possible the Tornado will try to create
a new column in the same place of clouds. In my opinion second column can’t
be so powerful as first one and we will be able to destroy it initially.
My dear George I would like you to learn more about
tornados. Somebody must find the practical way to weaken or destroy tornados
and this way must be safe for people and nature.
I love you.
Your grandfather
"Click on picture and see illustration of how to disrupt the energy of a
tornado which will weaken or destroy it".
Some publications tell us the strong flow of wind can
break off the tornado’s column and destroy a tornado.
Have a look at this picture. I think it is an example
how the wind can destroy a tornado’s column.
The text below is from the biggest Website about tornados:
"There are a lot of processes around a thunderstorm, which can possibly
rob the area around a tornado of either instability or vorticity. One is
relatively cold outflow - the flow of wind out of the precipitation area
of a shower or thunderstorm. Many tornadoes have been observed to go away
soon after being hit by outflow. For decades, storm observers have
documented the death of numerous tornadoes when their parent circulations
(mesocyclones) weaken after they become wrapped in outflow air - either
from the same thunderstorm or a different one".
I think this is a confirmation of my idea.
Some information about tornado.
How many tornadoes hit the US yearly?
About one thousand. The actual average is unknown, because tornado
spotting and reporting methods have changed so much in the last several
decades that the officially recorded tornado climatologies are believed to
be incomplete. Also, in the course of recording thousands of tornadoes,
errors are bound to occur. Events can be missed or mis-classified; and
some non-damaging tornadoes in remote areas could still be unreported.
How many people are killed every year by tornadoes? How
do most deaths happen in tornadoes?
On average, tornadoes kill about 60 people per
year -- most from flying or falling (crushing) debris
What was the costliest tornado?
A tornado in central and northern
Georgia, on 31 March 1973, is listed in Storm Data as having
produced $1,250,000,000.00 in actual damage and $5,175,000,000.00 when
inflation-adjusted -- both record amounts. The Bridge Creek-Moore-Oklahoma
City-Midwest City, OK, tornado of 3 May 1999
currently ranks second in actual dollars but fourth when inflation
adjusted. A top-10 damage listing is online
here.

Men's shed - a place for men to meet and help the
community
The St Vincent de Paul Society’s men’s shed aims to provide
opportunities for senior men to contribute to the community, through
woodworking, wheelchair assembly and social activities for retired men.
The need for this sort of activity was identified after the council
conducted a broad based needs survey of issues facing men of
post-retirement age.
The men’s shed project is a joint initiative of Ashfield Council, Mary
MacKillop Outreach and the Department of Veterans’ Affairs, has been
running since November 2001. It is funded by Council, with materials
donated by local timber yards.
The men’s shed is based at the Society’s Mary MacKillop Outreach Centre
and encourages the men to develop mentor-style relationships with the
people suffering a mental illness who attend the special work.
These relationships naturally form as the men often yearn to re-establish
personal contacts and know they are having a positive impact on the lives
of others.
It is a tremendously empowering experience that motivates the men, making
them feel good about themselves by doing visible, practical, meaningful
work to help less fortunate people and children within the community.
It also involves men, young and old, who have a mental illness and/or
disability, allowing them to learn social and practical skills, and
providing them with an opportunity to contribute to the community.
The men's shed project gives men a chance to meet and make friends
while at the same time doing something positive for their community. Every
week a group of 20 men gather at the Mary MacKillop Outreach Center to
construct furniture, toys and other items for use by nursing homes,
homeless shelters, schools and charities.

Moon is the primary driving force of the global air
circulation.
Vladimir Zenin
An ocean tide refers to the cyclic rise and fall of seawater. Tides are
caused by slight variations in gravitational attraction between the earth
and the moonand the sun in geometric relationship with locations
on the Earth's surface. Tides are periodic because of the cyclical
influence of the earth’s rotation. To a much smaller extent, tides also
occur in large lakes, the atmosphere, and within the solid crust of the
earth, acted upon by these same gravitational forces of the moon and sun.
Additional no astronomical factors such as configuration of the coastline,
local depth of the water, ocean-floor topography, and other hydrographic
and meteorological influences may play an important role in altering the
range, interval between high and low water, an times of arrival of the
tides.
Knowledge of the times, heights, and extent of inflow and outflow of
tidal waters is of importance in a wide range of practical applications
such as the following: Navigation through coastal waterways, and within
estuaries, bays, and harbors; work on harbor engineering projects, such as
the construction of bridges, docks, breakwaters, and deep-water channels;
the establishment of standard chart datum for hydrograph and for
demarcation of a base line or "legal coastline" for fixing offshore
territorial limits both on the sea surface and on the submerged lands of
the Continental Shelf; provision of information necessary for underwater
demolition activities and other military engineering uses; and the
furnishing of data indispensable to fishing, boating, surfing, and a
considerable variety of related water sport activities. That is why a
theory of tides and its practical utilization are thoroughly elaborated.
You can easy find very simple and intelligible explanations how tides
work and remarkable illustrations and animations of this phenomenon.
Animation shows tides of the hyperbolical size (for clarity), which travel
around the earth. Animation like this shows you clearly that tides
themselves are the most conspicuous surface ocean currents. When you
familiarize with ocean tides theory and these expressive illustrations and
animations you can guess or even arrive at a conclusion yourself that
gravitational forces of the moon and sun are the driving forces of the
global ocean currents and the
moon's gravitational pull is the primary force responsible for the tides
on the earth.
Fig.1.
Tidal bulge as a transfer of ocean water.
Look at this picture (Fig.1.). There is no doubt that water contained
in the tidal bulge is a huge spherical wave moving opposite direction of
the earth rotation. This wave gathers keeps and moves enormous quantity of
water always in one direction and this direction coincide with surface
ocean currents. Is it really the ocean wave is a transfer of water?
When you see an ocean wave approaching the shore and this wave cover
you and wash off the beach and you remain alive you meet the fundamental
wave mass transfer phenomena: The ocean wave movement is not just a
displacement of water molecules up and down as tell about it textbooks and
teachers but it is a transfer of water mass stored between two troughs.
Exactly such a volume of water was caste ashore and washed everything and
you to the sea. You are lucky. It was usual shallow water wave but not a
tsunami.
It is not difficult to calculate volume of water in ocean tidal bulge.
The tidal bulges are dome-like waves on the ocean surface, travelling from
the east to west in the tropical belt of the oceans and carrying over this
volume of water from east coasts to west coasts all the time. We call this
water transferring as global ocean currents.
When you understand that the tidal moving creates the ocean currents
you go to encyclopedia or a corresponding website to make sure you are
right. To your great surprise you find out that you are wrong. You learn
that wind forces ocean water to go from east to west. If you will try to
find out what and how a global air circulation work, you will be even more
surprised.
This is an example how science understands this phenomenon:
“Differential heating of the globe is what gives rise to global wind
patterns. Because they are persistent, these winds create "permanent"
movements of water, which we know as currents. The wind patterns, the
Carioles effect, and the arrangement of landmasses are responsible for
large-scale patterns of wind-driven surface currents in the world ocean”.
Why do people think like this? I believe they consider this because
ocean currents patterns and global wind patterns are similar.
Global air circulation could not be driven by pressure gradients in the
atmosphere. Atmospheric pressure changes in all directions and cannot
create invariable one-way wind. You see there is no sun influence on
atmosphere at night and wind could go in the reverse direction but it
shouldn’t.
If it is accepted that the moon pulls around the land and the water,
then surely it also pulls the air. Whilst many scientists accept the sea
tides and earth tides as fact, some still have trouble with the notion of
air-tides. The air-tide effect is too puny, they say. They think like this
because nobody could see and measure the atmospheric tides. There is one
more reason for this. It seems the atmospheric tides don’t trouble people.
The atmosphere is a mass of gas weighing five million billion tons and
about half of this total mass is in the lower layers, within about 5
kilometers of the earth’s surface. I believe that the atmospheric-tide
comes and goes out every day just like the ocean-tide.
Atmospheric tides were written about in 1807 and then rediscovered by
British scientists Appleton and Weekes in 1939, who were investigating the
strange phenomenon that shortwave radio signals reached around the world
more clearly at New and Full Moon phases. They concluded that if the
atmosphere (or ‘stratosphere’) made radio waves change clarity because of
the phase of the Moon, then there must be a tidal effect in the air.
In Atmospheric Tides for example you can read: “Whenever the
Moon is above the horizon it has two bulges beneath it. These are pulled
by gravitational attraction. One is made of water and the other is a bulge
of air. The ever-changing replacement of the water bulge results in the
sea tide and the replacement of air within the air bulge results in the
weather”.
But the author of this thread just sees the influence air tides on the
weather because the gravity “is stretching the air and attracting, by
gravitational pull, more atmosphere to higher levels in the sky, so
creating a larger volume gaseous environment”. He doesn’t notice that
atmospheric tides are the global air circulation themselves. Atmospheric
and ocean tides are phenomenon of the same physical essence. That is why
ocean currents patterns and global wind patterns are similar.
You can see that hurricanes float in the earth’s atmosphere in spite of
their huge mass. The moon and sun’s gravity and the rotation of the
moon-earth system as a whole pull these floating monsters too, always in
one direction from east to west. Without this force hurricanes would stand
still and could not develop and wreak havoc. The only permanent motion
allows them to gather energy from the huge air space and turn to the most
destructive atmospheric phenomenon.
So in reality the atmospheric gravitational tides are not slight and
harmless. They are the fundamental driving forces of the global air
circulation and tropical cyclones or typhoons as well. Hurricanes/typhoons
drift generally westward in both hemispheres. When they strike land, the
winds, which may reach speeds of 240 km/h, and rain, can do tremendous
damage and a raging flood.
In [1 - 3] it is described the model according which the
traveling tidal convex waves on the surface of each ocean transfer some
thousands cubic kilometers of water per day from the east part of the
tropic belt region of the ocean to its west part and that this wave mass
transfer of water from the east to west regions of the oceans is the main
generator of the large-scale ocean currents. According to this model the
all others large-scale ocean currents are gradient returning streams of
water from the west to east ocean's regions. The main features and general
structure of the large-scale ocean currents roughly confirm this
hypothesis [4].
Under the hypothesis that the atmospheric and ocean tides are
controlled by the same gravitational forces and that gases and liquids
have the same behavior we can conclude without doubt that the atmospheric
tides create a global air circulation.
