"A Rambling Rose"

"A Flower on the Wall"

Rafael hated to leave the sanctuary of his home very often. Parkinson's and Dyskenesia made travel difficult and though he would never admit it Vulnerability was always a factor. I believe this was the painting that Rafael created as he saw from his window across to his neighbor "Dr. Sanders" Window sill.

"Eonymous"
Rafael sent this painting by mail so I could indeed see he was for real as was his work. I remember this painting's rich wash of color and I will never forget his signature style.

"Lilacs V"
This Particular Lilac Scene appeared to be one of those night scenes that Rafael was so good at. It was almost as though your were in a candlelit or moonlit room.

"Night of the Lilac"
Rafael sent this to me back in the year 2001 for viewing. A mysterious night scene with the thought of scents of lilacs and a dark stormy sky trying to decide what it will do.

"Second Still Life in Pastel"
Similar to "Apple with a Bowl of Flowers this Painting was also some of Rafael's Last and Best Work. Rafael had only started painting just about two years before he died. In that short time his Art Work progressed to the point of being shown in Gallery's and raising money at Auctions for Disability Research as well as selling before the paint was dry from his Gallery in Albany New York

"Two Still Life's in Pastel"
The last and final third part to "Apple with a Bowl of Flower's and "Second Still life in Pastel". It is not know where these paintings ended up exactly. Rafael died under questionable circumstances. I was told that some of his paintings were missing from his gallery and some were taken. I was told that Rafael was "Found" peacefully in his bed on the third floor of his home. Rafael told me that he could no longer walk up his stairs and he had been living on the main floor of his home next to his Gallery in the last months before he died.

"Rafael with Friends and Loved Ones"

"A Weed Card"

Through Rafael's eyes, even weeds became beautiful.

"Apple with a Bowl of Flowers"
In the last few months before Rafael passed away he emailed me this latest Water Color. It seemed the worse his health declined the better his painting became. This was some of Rafael's best work and it took me months to get it online for I would cry my heart out remembering him every time I looked at his work.

"Mina's Card"

This Water Color was done for Rafael's friend Mina a very good friend of his out of Albany.

"Mutant Water Lilies ll"
This was one of my favorite's. Rafael asked my critique one day after I saw it and we bantered back and forth for days. Someday I may tell you about it.

"Pressed Flowers"
When Rafael first emailed this Water Color I exclaimed that I thought it would make a terrific Textile Print but I also knew that Rafael would never permit his paintings to be on any body's sheet

"Sunflowers ll"
Another favorite.

This is the Clock on my wall that stopped the day Rafael died.  You could hear the battery running but the hands would not move.  My daughter told me it fell off the wall.  Was Rafael trying to say something?  I think so. We had discussed the possibility of a persons ability to contact the living after death. And I told him, Rafael if you go before me, will you try to contact me?  I think this was his way. Many times I can still feel him over my shoulder watching what I am doing. Like now. Still hear his voice. I try not to think about it too much because it makes me sad. Other people I have spoken to have told me they sense his presence around them also.

"A Bearded Yellow Iris"

"An Ant's Eye view"

Always thinking and trying to see things from another's perspective was something Rafael was good at. Although this painting was not one of my favorites it really did have that "Other Point of View".

"Hake Pond"
Rafael told me once about his love for using Hake Paint Brushes for his Art Work. In Albany there was a place he liked to go to buy his brushes and wear them out creating hundreds of Original Water Color's.

"Lilac Lane"
People loved Rafael's Lilac Paintings and they would fly out of his Gallery the fastest. Before the paint was dry a customer would slap down their cash to hold the painting.

"Oriental Hakes in Flower"
Gorgeous Flowers, a Beautiful day, the abundance of life. What more could one ask for in a Floral Water Color? This painting I also saw and touched when sent by mail from Rafael

"The Light The Way"
Being a buyer and collector of Art gives the buyer the right to interpret a painting any way he/she/they choose. My own feeling when viewing this painting was one of profound spirituality.

"The Poppy Fields"
When Rafael sent this he told me it was in memory of his friend who was Vietnam Veteran who had passed on.
