There is absolutely nothing that  my friend Don might not try.  Don't even tell him the meaning of can't because I don't believe it exists in his vocabulary.  Born in Seattle Washington at an inopportune time ,an  event  stole the chance for normal vision when a faulty incubator caused an oxygen mishap for Don as an infant. who was born prematurely .  This resulted in a major vision loss and becoming legally blind.

Although it might devastate a lesser man, it was merely an inconvenience for Don.  His world is viewed in pieces.  To get an Idea of what this might be like , think of looking at the world as a puzzle with pieces missing or out of sequence.  Don used to tell me that when he looked at my face he would never see my whole face, only a part of it.  Another time he might see another part than from this he would figure out what I might look like.  I always thought this was amazing that he could do this.  All through his life Don worked many different jobs always trying to work harder, faster, longer, or smarter than the next guy.  Laughing about this in hindsight , his favorite phrase was "I'm an overachiever".

Always under pressure to do better than his full vision competition probably made this a reality.  Not so long ago Don decided to become an Artist.  This was extremely amazing to the public and it wasn't long before Don't painting were in high demand.  His Art became so good that people started to steal it.  This was heartbreaking though and Don decided to switch careers.  He went to school and learned the trade of Computer Program Systems Analyst.  Again excelling in his field, even Microsoft hired him for advice on Visuals and the largest multimillion dollar companies in the Seattle Region sought Don to solve their problems.

This he did and did so well that he rarely got a break .  Whether they know it or  not, Don told me once that when he reads the computer screen he sees only three letters at a time.  While this might discourage the average person from reading anything at all, it 's  of no consequence to Don .  He used to fly around the United States to help large companies get back online and in business.  Large companies and businesses rely on his expertise and could loose millions of dollars without his help.  The only assistive Technology Don uses is a special pair of glasses.  Other than that his dedication, hard work, intelligence and positive attitude  are his biggest assets.

I wanted to tell you about my friend Don because not only is he a successful business man but he is a kind  man who helped make this possible for me and I will always be grateful to him for that.  One day I told him what I was doing and we had planned at one time to work together on this but he was very busy and  unable t o.  Nevertheless he contributed some software that helped me get started and I never would have gotten to this point were it not for his kind gesture.  So Don if you ever get un busy some day and happen to see this, please know this is my big thank you  to you. I really do mean that and I thank you from the Bottom of my Heart.  You see, sometimes when people do nice things like you have done it may not always be appreciated or you may not think any one cares.  This is to say to you personally how very much I think of you and to also share my thoughts about you  (all good) with others also.

Don is retired now but I don't see him slowing down. Last I talked to him he is going to college and studying nutrition.  He plans to be a personal consultant for older people wishing to get in shape.   This page is a thank you to Don Schultz.
